Job summary

The Craft Development Instructor at SPC Mechanical delivers onboarding and ongoing skills training for field and fabrication shop employees across plumbing, pipefitting, and sheet metal trades. The role emphasizes hands-on coaching on active jobsites and reinforces safety and quality standards in real time.

Collaborating with the Talent Development Partner, you will develop materials, assess trainee progress, and ensure training programs align with SPC's operational needs while traveling

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of trade experience in plumbing, pipefitting, or sheet metal.
• Experience as a trade instructor at high school or college level is strongly preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel regularly across SPC regions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard reporting tools.
• Knowledge of safety standards across plumbing, pipefitting, and sheet metal trades.

Responsibilities

• Deliver onboarding and hands-on training for new hires across plumbing, pipefitting, and sheet metal.
• Develop and deliver ongoing training to reinforce installation and fabrication practices.
• Conduct regular jobsite coaching and real-time technique corrections.
• Serve as subject matter expert across plumbing, pipefitting, and sheet metal practices.
• Create and update training materials, lesson plans, and skill assessments.
• Evaluate trainee performance through hands-on assessments and field observation.
• Mentor and support field and shop staff for long-term trade development.
• Provide weekly reports to Talent Development Partner and track training progress.
• Communicate training priorities with field leadership and Talent Development Partner.
• Reinforce safety standards during all training activities.
