Job summary

SPC Mechanical Corporation is seeking a Sheet Metal Mechanic I to plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install and repair sheet metal components. You will work from blueprints and project specs to ensure high-quality installations aligned with safety standards.

You will read contracts and drawings, lay out hangers and piping systems, and operate fabrication equipment. You will mentor junior staff, ensure timely payroll timesheets, and uphold company policies on site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Able to lay out hangers and piping systems.
• Able to read contracts, shop and schematic drawings.
• Knows how to perform pressure testing.
• Mathematical skills for fittings and takes offs.
• Capable of using company devices (Phone, iPad, workstation).
• OSHA 10 certification and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and determine fabrication, assembly, and installation methods.
• Select materials and installation methods per project specs.
• Layout dimensions and reference lines on material.
• Set up and operate fabrication equipment.
• Install work according to blueprints and specs.
• Coordinate with project manager to maintain schedule and quality.
• Maintain a job log and forward timesheets to payroll.
• Lead and mentor a small crew (2–6) during installations.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and safety rules.
• Repair and maintain sheet metal products.
