Intertek Building & Construction in Fairfax, VA seeks a Field Testing Technician Level II to lead field testing projects, manage crew and travel to job sites. You will set up test chambers, run equipment, and interact with clients during tests.

The role requires strong communication, physical capability and willingness to travel 75% or more. Candidates should have 2+ years in commercial construction or building envelope work, and an ability to learn testing standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED Equivalent
• 2+ years of hands‑on experience in commercial construction, building envelope or fenestration
• Ability to learn building envelope including wall cladding systems, curtain wall, window and door systems, waterproofing, roofing, etc.
• Working knowledge of test methods and standards for these systems or ability to learn them
• Aptitude for working independently and leading a crew on assigned projects
• Technical competency and ability to communicate with customers and co‑workers both in writing and orally
• Effective communication skills with clients and subcontractors
• Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to meet changing priorities and deadlines
• Good computer skills – Microsoft Office & Outlook
• Ability to perform work from ladders, boom‑lifts, roof levels, etc
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, bend, crawl, push and pull
• Willingness to travel (locally and/or overnight) 75%+
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Associates or higher preferred (related field)

Responsabilités

• Lead field testing projects, data collection and report writing
• Set up for testing including rough carpentry to construct test chambers
• Run equipment inside buildings and interact with customers during testing
• Operate high reach lift equipment (boom lifts, scaffolding)
• Assist with forensic investigations of building envelope failures
• Communicate with clients and project team on site observations and test prep
• Plan on-site needs such as water, electricity and access with clients and team
• Travel with overnight stays; company covers travel expenses and per diem
• Perform physical work related to responsibilities as assigned
