Job summary

Conterra Networks in Longview, TX seeks a full-time installation technician to install and maintain telecom equipment and fiber cabling. You will work on racks, walls, and backboards, pull cables, terminate jacks, and test circuits.

The role requires basic hand tools, knowledge of Ethernet and telephony cabling, and the ability to travel as needed. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to lift 20–100 lbs, work in teams or independently, and be willing to be on call

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to travel and stay overnight.
• Ability to stand for long durations, bend, squat, reach, walk and lift/carry >20lbs but <100lbs.
• Basic hand tools knowledge.
• Basic installation knowledge to rack mount or wall mount equipment.
• Know ethernet cabling, jacks, patch panels per EIA/TIA standards.
• Knowledge of basic telephony color code and RJ-11 wiring.
• Ability to terminate telephone cables and punch down.
• Basic fiber optic concepts, cleaning connectors and checking light levels.
• Understanding of multi-mode vs single mode fiber and SC/LC/ST/FC connectors.
• Awareness of SFP types.
• Ability to manage assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Install or mount electronic equipment in racks, walls, or backboards.
• Pull and terminate cables vertically and horizontally.
• Work from ladders or elevated positions.
• Test basic internet circuits and POTS lines.
• Resolve customer service issues with internal teams.
• Travel outside local area and stay overnight as needed.
• Be on call outside normal business hours.
• Complete tasks assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
