Job summary

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. is seeking a Field Technician Support II in Greenwood, SC to provide on-site technical support for PSAP infrastructure and Next Generation 911 deployments.

You will install, configure, and test networking gear and workstations, coordinate with contractors, and lead onsite teams during site moves. The role requires 3–5 years in IP networking and a willingness to work nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of related experience in installation, configuration, and testing of IP networking equipment and systems.
• Familiarity with Windows, Linux, server virtualization; Cisco routing/switching preferred.
• Experience with carrier circuits, demarcation points, and telecom providers.
• Understanding of both legacy telephony (POTS/analog) and modern VoIP/SIP-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Resolve field operational issues in the PSAP network by on-site visits; coordinate with Network Operations Center.
• Provide on-call coverage during weekday nights and weekends.
• Perform on-site preventive maintenance of workstations, servers, and equipment.
• Support deployment of new PSAP sites and moves as part of Next Generation 911.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and participate in construction meetings with general contractors.
• Function as technical lead on-site and supervise subcontractor personnel during PSAP deployments/moves.
• Install, configure, and test routers, switches, PDUs, Windows workstations, IP phones, and IP-to-serial converters.
• Provide timely project status updates and maintain web-based ticketing logs.
• Maintain inventory and spare equipment stock.
• Participate in special projects as required.
