Job summary

Sunstate Equipment Co. is hiring a Field Technician III in the United States. The role focuses on inspecting, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining diesel-powered equipment used in construction and rental fleets.

You will handle routine service, complex repairs, and welding tasks while ensuring safety standards. You will work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM with overtime eligibility and a discretionary quarterly branch bonus.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of diesel mechanic experience in construction or rental gear.
• Proficient troubleshooting of electrical/hydraulic systems and Tier 4 aftertreatment.
• Experience repairing diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, pneumatics and drive trains.
• Owns a tools collection valued at $10,000+.
• Experience with industrial pumps, power equipment or HVAC is a plus.
• OSHA Basic Plus or TWIC certification preferred / to be obtained if not held.
• Basic computer skills for service orders and parts ordering.
• Capable of inspecting, servicing and testing equipment to spec.
• Able to perform MIG/SMAW welding at entry level.
• Maintains accurate repair and warranty records.
• Team player with a self-starter attitude and growth mindset.

• Perform routine servicing including fluid checks and lubrication.
• Carry out major and minor repairs on diesel/gas engines and hydraulics.
• Document maintenance and warranty records for each unit.

Required Skills & Experience

• A minimum of 4 years' experience as diesel mechanic, with a construction equipment or rental background required.
• Proficient troubleshooting and diagnosing skills with electrical and hydraulic systems, diesel engines, including Tier 4 and aftertreatment systems required.
• Experience performing major and minor repairs on diesel and gas engines, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, as well as drive trains is required.
• Must have the necessary tools you need to do the job; averaging $10,000+ in value.
• Having mechanic experience working on industrial pumps, power equipment, and HVAC is a plus!
• Having a TWIC or Safety Council OSHA Basic Plus certification is preferred, will need to obtain if not held.
• Basic computer knowledge for service work orders, parts ordering, and service related tasks.
• Inspect, service, and test equipment, ensuring performance to manufacturer specifications.
• Perform routine service on equipment which includes checking fluid levels, changing fluid and lubricating.
• Perform novice level welding repairs (MIG & SMAW).
• Prepare and maintain accurate records on the maintenance and repair of equipment, including warranty records.
