Job summary

Sunstate Equipment Co. is hiring a diesel mechanic with at least 3 years’ experience in heavy construction equipment or rental. You will repair gas and diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, and drivetrains, and you must bring your own tools.

Schedule is Mon–Fri 6AM–5PM with overtime; pay is $29–$40 per hour plus a quarterly bonus. We provide uniforms, free equipment rental, safety glasses, and a comprehensive benefits package (medical/dental/vision after one month, 401(k) with

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years as a diesel mechanic on heavy equipment or rental fleet.
• Experience with hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and diesel/gas engines.
• Familiarity with Tier 4, DPF, SCR, DEF, EGR systems preferred.
• Proficient in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Repair gas and diesel engines and complex hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions and diagnose equipment issues.
• Inspect, service, and test equipment to spec.
• Perform routine service, check fluids, and lubricate components.

Position Requirements

Sunstate is a proud Second Chance employer that evaluates every candidate on a case-by-case basis.

• You should have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with a background in heavy construction equipment or rental required.
• Advanced experience with major & minor repairs of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and diesel and gas engines on construction equipment and delivery fleet.
• Experience with Tier 4 engines and DPF, SCR, DEF, and EGR aftertreatment systems is highly preferred.
• Extensive experience performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing heavy equipment repairs.
• Must have the necessary tools you need to perform the scope of equipment repairs.
• Inspect, service, and test equipment, ensuring performance to manufacturer specifications.
• Advanced understanding of schematics, computer diagnostic software, and welding methods.
• Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and efficient time management techniques
• Successfully manage multiple priorities concurrently, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
• Safety oriented, maintaining industry and Sunstate safety standards performing equipment repairs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major repairs on gas and diesel engines, complex hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains to include manual and power shift transmissions on equipment and trucks
• Troubleshoot/diagnose malfunctions and repair equipment
• Inspect, service, and test equipment, ensuring performance to manufacturer specifications
• Perform routine service on equipment which includes checking fluid levels, changing fluid and lubricating
• Prepare/maintain accurate records on the maintenance and repair of equipment, including warranty records
