Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) in North America is seeking a Field Technician II to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation electrical equipment with increasing independence. You will troubleshoot issues using schematics and manuals, document testing and maintenance activities, and assist with commissioning while upholding a strong safety culture.

Candidates must relocate to Boise, ID, and be willing to travel and work overtime; relevant electrical/NETA background preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or military experience preferred.
  • 2–4 years relevant industry experience.
  • NETA II Certified.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety policies and use PPE in substation environments.
  • Perform testing of high, medium, and low voltage equipment with limited supervision.
  • Inspect, test, and maintain circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding systems, battery systems, and switchgear.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals; escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance, including repair, replacement, and adjustment of electrical components.
  • Execute functional checks and assist with commissioning activities to verify equipment readiness for service.
  • Accurately document testing, maintenance, and repair work per project requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and senior technicians to complete field activities safely.
