Job summary

Electric Power Systems in Minnesota is seeking a Field Technician II to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation equipment with increasing independence. You will troubleshoot issues, document work, and support commissioning while upholding safety and quality standards.

Ideal candidates bring experience with high/low voltage testing, strong communication, and the ability to travel; a NETA II certification and electrical tech background are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen due to safety sensitive position.
• Background check required.
• Overtime and travel for periods out of town may be needed.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety policies and PPE requirements for substation work.
• Participate in safety trainings, meetings, and job briefings; identify hazards and mitigate.
• Support safety culture through hazard reporting and lessons learned.
• Test high, medium, and low voltage equipment with limited supervision.
• Inspect and maintain circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding, battery systems, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot equipment using schematics and manuals, escalate complex issues.
• Perform routine and corrective maintenance including repairs and adjustments.
• Assist commissioning and verify equipment readiness for service.
• Document testing and maintenance activities per project requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to complete field tasks efficiently.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to standards.
