Electric Power Systems in Sugar Land, TX, seeks a Field Technician II to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation electrical equipment with increasing independence. This role emphasizes safety, quality, and troubleshooting with supervision reducing over time.

Responsibilities include testing high/medium/low voltage gear, inspecting breakers and transformers, and documenting work while collaborating with engineers and senior techs.

Qualifications

• Able to pass pre-employment drug screen (safety sensitive)
• Criminal background check required
• Overtime and travel out of town required
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety policies and PPE usage in substation environments
• Participate in safety training, meetings, and job briefings; identify hazards and mitigate risks
• Support safety culture through hazard reporting and safe work practices
• Perform testing of high, medium, and low voltage equipment with limited supervision
• Inspect, test, and maintain breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding systems, battery systems, and switchgear
• Troubleshoot equipment using schematics and manuals, escalating complex issues
• Perform routine and corrective maintenance including repair and replacement of components
• Execute functional checks and assist commissioning activities to verify readiness for service
• Document testing, maintenance, and repair work per requirements
• Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to complete field activities efficiently
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to standards
