Job summary
Lumen Technologies is hiring a Field Technician II in the Philadelphia area to install, test, and troubleshoot network equipment across metro and long-haul fibers. You will work with Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber Optic Transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP layers, performing outside plant tasks as needed.
The role requires hands-on hardware skills, the ability to read layouts, and the stamina to handle field duties in diverse weather.
Qualifications
- Experience in installation, testing and turn-up of telecom equipment including SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers and switches.
- Knowledge of circuit provisioning, maintenance and testing (DS1/DS3/SONET).
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots network equipment and replaces defective gear to restore service.
- Performs installation/change/decommission and testing of Next Generation technologies (Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber Transport, Ethernet, IP).
- Install and test network and customer equipment (CPE).
- Maintains asset management and coordinates shipping/receiving.
