Job summary

UES is seeking a motivated Field Technician I to perform on-site inspections, materials testing, and environmental sampling across transportation, energy, water, and other projects. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and collaboration with engineers and project teams in outdoor settings.

The position requires frequent travel (up to 70%), strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while following company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is a plus.
• 0-3 years of experience in field-based outdoor roles preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 or ability to obtain within timeframe.
• Commitment to workplace safety and OSHA standards including PPE.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Field Data Collection (FDC) software.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field and laboratory testing of materials to verify compliance with specs and standards.
• Collect, label, and transport samples from job sites to laboratories.
• Prepare detailed reports, logs, and documentation of test results.
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration and operation.
• Communicate status and findings with project managers and stakeholders.
• Support field crews and adapt to changing schedules and weather conditions.
• Travel with project teams and work safely in outdoor environments.
• Follow safety protocols and PPE guidelines in all tasks.
