Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Field Technician I to manage assets, coordinate deliveries, and maintain a range of fiber optic and power equipment. You will assist installs, tests, and upkeep of network infrastructure, and support restoration efforts during service interruptions while keeping detailed logs and records.

Ideal candidates will have strong PC skills, ability to learn corporate systems, and be capable of working on-call across varying weather conditions. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or up to 2 years related experience including network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
• Experience and knowledge in at least one major technician discipline: Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, Outside Plant.
• Ability to locate fiber optic cable and understand As-Builts.
• Must maintain site security and cleanliness.
• PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office.
• Willingness for on-call 24x7 as required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment and restores service.
• Assists in installation, provisioning, testing and maintenance of Next Gen technologies.
• Locates underground facilities using standard tools and processes.
• Asset management including replenishment and shipping/receiving of materials.
• Performs preventive maintenance on network and critical infrastructure.
• Update trouble tickets with detailed logs and provide reports on status.
