Job summary

Lumen Technologies in Minnesota is hiring for a Field Technician I to manage assets, coordinate deliveries, and support installations of advanced network equipment. You will handle testing, provisioning, and maintenance of DS0 through OC192 services, and assist with restoration during outages.

The role requires learning systems, updating records, and reporting status to management. On-call duties, a valid driver’s license, and ability to work in varying conditions are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or up to 2 years of relevant job experience including 1+ years network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
• Entry-level technician with knowledge in transmission, switching, TCP/IP, or outside plant.
• Must be able to locate fiber optic cable and understand right-of-way and As-Builts.
• On-call 24x7 on a rotational basis; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment, replaces defective parts, and works to restore service.
• Install/change/decommission and test Next Generation technologies (Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber, Ethernet, SONET, IP).
• Install and test network/CPE equipment for end-user services.
• Locate, mark, and protect underground facilities using standard tools.
• Perform preventive maintenance on network and critical infrastructure including HVAC and power systems.
• Update installation records and log status updates for management.
