Job summary

Lumen Technologies is seeking a Field Technician III to install, test, and maintain transport, Ethernet, SONET and IP networks. You’ll work with CPE, CSU/DSU and fiber-related tasks across geographic areas, often with little supervision and potential team lead duties.

The role demands hands-on installation, testing of network layers, outside plant work, and adherence to safety policies. Location-based pay applies with on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years technician experience in a telecom/datacenter environment.
• Master knowledge of standard telecom practices and technologies (Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP).
• Experience with outside plant, fiber, and testing activities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team leader when needed.
• On-call 24x7 on a rotational basis as required by business.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment, replaces defective items, and isolates issues to restore service.
• Installs/changes/decommissions and tests transport, Ethernet, SONET and IP networks for all bandwidths.
• Locates, marks, and protects underground facilities using standard tools and software.
• Manages assets, tools, and materials on-site and coordinates shipping/receiving.
• Performs preventive maintenance on network infrastructure and HVAC/power equipment.
