Job summary

Lumen Technologies in Nashville, TN is seeking an entry-level Field Technician I to support asset management, install, provisions, test, and maintain fiber optic transmission equipment and related systems across the network.

You will learn to perform preventive maintenance, update records, assist in restoration, and respond to issues, with on-call duties and a required valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or up to 2 years of relevant job experience including 1+ years network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
• Knowledge of Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (SS7), TCP/IP, Outside Plant; fiber locating and related activities.
• Must have PC skills and be proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment, replaces defective components, and helps restore service.
• Assists in installation/change/decommission and testing of Next Generation technologies (Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber, Ethernet, IP).
• Locates and protects underground facilities using standard tools and procedures.
• Performs level 1 preventive maintenance on network and critical infrastructure including HVAC and DC power plants.
• Maintains asset records, ships/receives materials, and updates relevant systems and logs.
