Job summary

Lumen Technologies in Mississippi is seeking a Field Technician I to manage assets, coordinate deliveries, and maintain fiber optic and power equipment. You will support installation, testing, and provisioning of services while ensuring network integrity.

This role requires readiness for on-call shifts, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work in varied weather. You will document activities and collaborate with teams to keep services running at peak performance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1+ years network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair experience.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment, removes/replaces defective equipment, and works with appropriate resources to isolate and restore network.
• Assists in installation/change/decommission and testing of Next Generation technologies such as Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber Optic transport, Ethernet, SONET and IP network layers.
• Utilizes industry standard software and hardware tools to locate, mark, and protect underground facilities.
• AC Power (on limited basis).
• DC power installs including tertiary and BDCBB.
• Responsible for asset management processes and replenishment of on-site/truck materials.
• Performs level 1 preventive maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment.
• Update/report inventory records changes and provide status updates to management.
• Learn and participate in trouble ticketing, provisioning and time tracking systems.
