Job summary

UES, Inc. is seeking a Field Technician I to perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials, collect samples, and prepare detailed reports.

The role requires travel up to 70%, strict adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to operate company vehicles and field equipment. You will work with experienced engineers and technicians to support projects across transportation, environmental, and infrastructure sectors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training is a plus.
• 0–3 years of outdoor/field or physically demanding work experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; ability to operate company vehicles.
• Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing or ability to obtain.
• Commitment to safety, OSHA standards, and PPE usage.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Field Data Collection tools.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret technical documents/blueprints.
• Good mathematical skills for measurements and unit conversions.
• Strong time management and organizational abilities with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel frequently (up to 70%).

Responsibilities

• Conduct field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other construction materials to verify compliance with project specs and regulatory requirements.
• Collect, label, and transport samples from job sites to laboratories.
• Prepare detailed reports, logs, and documentation of test results.
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration and function.
• Communicate status updates with dispatch, supervisors, and project managers.
• Adhere to project timelines and safety protocols including PPE and OSHA guidelines.
• Operate and maintain a company vehicle and perform routine maintenance.
• Support ongoing training and certifications as required.
