Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Construction Materials Field Technician I in Portland, Oregon. You will learn and perform testing of soil, concrete, and related materials under supervision, utilizing procedures and client specifications.

A valid driver’s license and basic math, calculator, and computer skills are required, with in-house training provided. The role involves working outdoors in varying weather, lifting 30–50 pounds regularly, and collaborating with project teams to ensure accurate data

Qualifications

• No experience required; in-house training and advancement opportunities provided.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Basic math, calculator, and computer skills required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
• Willingness to work off shifts and overtime.
• Ability to lift/move 30–50 lbs frequently and over 50 lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, observations, and site assessments under supervision or controlled procedures.
• Operate testing equipment and conduct tests (soil, concrete, etc.) and report data.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and diagrams to support testing.
• Observe site activities and carry out tasks per methods.
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
• Communicate with clients and project teams effectively.
