Job summary

Lumen in Tennessee is seeking a Field Technician I to manage assets, assist in installs, provision tests, and maintain DS0 through OC192 services across a robust fiber network. The role requires hands-on work with transmission, Ethernet, and IP layers, plus the ability to handle on-site safety and documentation duties.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, basic PC skills, Windows/Office proficiency, and a willingness to be on-call.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or up to 2 years relevant experience including 1+ years related to network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
• Experience in at least one of Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, or Outside Plant disciplines.
• Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable and related rights-of-way.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to learn corporate databases and work in a 24x7 on-call environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot network equipment, replace faulty parts, and coordinate issue restoration.
• Install, test, and provision Next Generation technologies and customer premises equipment as needed.
• Use standard tools to locate and protect underground facilities.
• Perform preventive maintenance on critical infrastructure including HVAC and DC power plants.
• Update logs and reports, track inventory, and provide status updates to management.
