Bluebird Fiber is seeking a Field Technician to join a dynamic Midwest team. The role focuses on installing and maintaining fiber networks, coordinating new customer installations, and ensuring reliable data transport for carriers and enterprises.

You will work a mix of day/evening shifts with on-call duties, leveraging OTDR/OSA testing and IP/MPLS knowledge to support network performance and restoration efforts across BBF locations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in telecommunications or equivalent technical training.
• College or Technical degree or equivalent preferred.
• Private line broadband installation and maintenance.
• DS3/DS1 installation and maintenance.
• SONET/DWDM installation and maintenance.
• IP/MPLS fundamentals.
• Test equipment proficiency (OTDR, OSA, DS1/3, and Ethernet).

Responsabilités

• Receive, monitor, analyze, and resolve network problems with minimal oversight.
• Coordinate and perform new customer installations for wholesale, enterprise, and colocation customers.
• Provide proper documentation of the network (Site Audits, Inventory Databases).
• Provide installation, test and acceptance for nodes and collocations.
• Support emergency restoration for aerial and buried fiber optic cable.
• Provide 24x7 network coverage and troubleshoot at Tier I level.
• Adhere to rotational on-call schedule.
