Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Field Technician to join our Erie team. The role is primarily field-based, performing observations, sampling, and routine testing under supervision on job sites.

You will collect data, document site conditions, communicate with contractors and project managers, and support testing activities while developing foundational technical skills and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• No experience necessary; paid training is provided.
• Must obtain basic certifications as per ECS Technician Policy.
• If driving for ECS, a valid driver’s license is required.
• Good verbal and written communication and reading comprehension.
• Ability to lift equipment and materials regularly (up to ~85 lbs).
• Ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret plans (developing).
• Basic proficiency with electronic devices (tablets, phones, laptops).

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation, testing, and sampling of soil, aggregates, and concrete under supervision.
• Assist with construction materials testing activities on project sites.
• Communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
• Report changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisors.
• Assist with preparation and submission of daily field reports.
• Support basic calculations and data entry related to testing results.
• Assist in organizing and maintaining field equipment.
• Notify supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
• Participate in project meetings with senior staff as requested.
• Perform other field and project support duties as assigned.
