Job summary

Hewlett Packard Co. is seeking a Field Service Technician for HP Indigo Digital Printing presses in the Illinois area. You will travel to customer sites, perform on-site installation, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance, ensuring printing solutions operate at peak performance.

You’ll train customers on color management and proper usage, document service actions, and escalate issues per HP standards. A valid driver's license and ability to lift and move equipment are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with demonstrated competence or equivalent work experience.
• 4–6 years in field service, technical support, or printing press repair.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Install & Configure HP Indigo presses, including hardware, software, and network components.
• Maintain & Repair by performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and software issues.
• Provide Customer Training on usage, color management, and best practices.
• Follow installation and escalation plans to meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Use monitoring tools to identify and prevent potential issues before they impact operations.

**Description -**This role is for a Field Service Technician specializing in HP Indigo Digital Printing Presses. In this role, you’ll be the face of HP for our customers, delivering exceptional on-site service, diagnostics, and repairs. You’ll work from your home base in the greater South Carolina area, traveling to customer sites to ensure their digital printing solutions run flawlessly. This is more than a technical role — it’s about building trust, solving problems, and keeping businesses moving, while maintaining high customer satisfaction levels and addressing customer-related issues promptly. What You’ll Do • Install & Configure: Set up HP Indigo Digital Printing presses, including hardware, software, and network components. • Maintain & Repair: Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues. • Customer Training: Educate customers on proper usage, color management, and best practices. • Project Execution: Follow installation and escalation plans to meet deadlines and quality standards. • Proactive Support: Use monitoring tools to identify and prevent potential issues before they impact operations. • Customer Engagement: Provide clear updates, resolve concerns promptly, and maintain high satisfaction levels. What You Bring • Technical Expertise: o Strong mechanical, electrical, and electronic troubleshooting skills o Knowledge of digital printing press technology • Solid computer/networking skills • Education & Experience: o High School Diploma/General Education Diploma (GED)/Higher Secondary education or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence o Typical candidate possesses 4-6 years in field service, technical support, or printing press repair o Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities o Ability to work independently and under pressure • Other Requirements: o Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation o Ability to lift, bend, and stoop throughout the day • Specialized Skills: o HP Indigo knowledge o Printing industry knowledge o Ability to integrate hardware/software solutions Location: Candidate must reside in the greater Illinois area. This is a field-based role with 80% travel to customer sites. Travel distances will vary day-to-day.
