Job summary

Brice Highway LLC is seeking a Survey Instrument Man to work onsite in the Houston, Texas area, operating and maintaining survey instruments and collecting precise field data for land surveys. You will support survey crews and verify measurements are recorded accurately, reporting to field project locations around the Houston Metro area.

The role requires effective collaboration with crew members, adherence to safety protocols, and readiness to travel for extended periods.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Pass drug, driving (if applicable), and background screening.

Responsibilities

• Operate survey instruments including total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, data collectors, and digital levels.
• Set up and calibrate survey equipment, including backsights and control points.
• Collect and record field data with accuracy (distances, angles, elevations).
• Coordinate with crew to ensure data collection and workflow efficiency.
• Interpret field notes, plans and staking instructions for tasks.
• Verify measurements and perform field calculations as needed.
• Assist in layout, staking and marking of points for surveys.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment/data issues in the field.
• Maintain survey instruments and transport/setup of field gear.
• Work outdoors in various conditions and travel as needed.
• Maintain safety protocols and work professionally with crew.
