Job summary

TYPSA US in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Survey Instrument Technician to operate and maintain precision surveying equipment in the field, collecting accurate data for boundary retracement, topographic mapping, ALTA surveys, and construction staking. Under supervision of a Land Surveyor, you will contribute to project success.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and 3–5 years of field surveying experience, with proficiency in Trimble GPS and total stations.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School or equivalent.
• Entry level role; 3–5 years of land surveying field experience preferred.
• Technical training in surveying, geomatics, or related field preferred.
• Proficiency with Trimble GPS and total station, data collection technology.

Responsibilities

• Assist Land Surveyors in planning and executing field surveys (boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built).
• Operate survey equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems, and data collectors.
• Measure and record distances, angles, elevations, and coordinates.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of field data collection.
• Perform calculations and verify measurements in the field.
• Maintain field notes, logs, and digital records.
• Ensure proper care, calibration, and maintenance of survey equipment.
• Enforce safety procedures on job sites.
