Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Field Support Engineer for an onsite role in Groton, CT. This 06+ months contract involves upgrading Windows workstations and supporting deployment activities at customer sites.

Responsibilities include assessing Windows 10 devices, preparing Windows 11 configurations, and coordinating with vendors. Strong AD and network basics are required along with excellent documentation and onsite support availability.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in IT support, desktop engineering, systems support, or infrastructure.
• Experience upgrading Windows 10 to Windows 11.
• Proficient in Active Directory and domain-joined workstations.
• Strong understanding of basic network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Excellent documentation and technical communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Perform assessments of Windows 10 workstations to determine upgrade or replacement needs.
• Capture workstation asset details and installed applications.
• Assess readiness for Windows 11 and identify compatibility issues.
• Support replacement of legacy workstations with Windows 11 computers.
• Build, configure, and prepare Windows 11 workstations per standards.
• Install software using approved packages and vendor docs.
• Verify connectivity of Windows 11 workstations to instruments, peripherals, and network resources.
• Troubleshoot Windows, drivers, services, and network issues.
• Coordinate with vendors on compatibility and installation requirements.
• Support pre-upgrade backup activities and ensure recovery provisions.
• Execute upgrade activities per procedures and schedules.
• Document assessment results and implementation in tracking systems.
• Participate in project meetings and deployment planning.

Immediate need for a talented Field Support Engineer. This is a 06+ Months Contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Groton, CT (Onsite).

Pay Range: $30 - $32/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform technical assessments of existing Windows 10 workstations to determine upgrade or replacement requirements.
• Capture and maintain workstation information, including asset details and installed applications.
• Assess hardware and software readiness for Windows 11, identifying potential compatibility issues.
• Support the replacement of legacy workstations with enterprise-standard Windows 11 computers.
• Build, configure, and prepare Windows 11 workstations according to approved standards.
• Install and configure software using approved installation packages and vendor documentation.
• Verify connectivity between Windows 11 workstations and attached instruments, peripherals, and network resources.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to Windows, drivers, services, and network connectivity.
• Coordinate with vendors regarding compatibility and installation requirements.
• Support pre-upgrade backup activities and ensure recovery provisions are in place.
• Execute workstation upgrade activities following approved procedures and project schedules.
• Document assessment results and implementation activities in designated tracking systems.
• Participate in project meetings and deployment planning activities.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• 3–5 years of relevant IT support, desktop engineering, systems support, or infrastructure experience.
• Strong troubleshooting experience with Windows 10 and Windows 11.
• Proficiency in Active Directory and domain-joined workstation concepts.
• Understanding of network troubleshooting fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and execute defined procedures.
• Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite and support scheduled deployment activities as required.
