Job summary

N&S LOCATING SERVICES d.b.a. S&N is seeking a Field Supervisor to oversee underground utility locating technicians across assigned service areas.

You will ensure safe, accurate, and efficient locating operations while coordinating between field teams, operations leadership, customers, and internal departments. The role focuses on workload management, technician performance, field quality, safety, training, and exceptional customer service, with travel as needed and a track record of leadership

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in facility locating.
• Lead, coach, and supervise field locate technicians.
• Willing to travel between service areas and provide field support.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Integrity, reliability, and strong professional judgment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, trains, and develops underground utility locate technicians.
• Manages daily ticket routing, workload, and technician productivity.
• Supports trouble locates, projects, designer tickets, and escalated locating requests.
• Conducts locate quality, field safety, vehicle, and maintenance audits.
• Addresses performance issues and administers discipline per policy.
• Responds to customer concerns and communicates operational expectations to the locate team.
• Provides field and after-hours support as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Summary:The Field Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and support of a team of Locate Technicians. This position ensures locating operations are performed safely, accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies, customer requirements, applicable regulations, and industry standards.The Field Supervisor serves as a key connection between field technicians, operations leadership, customers, and other internal departments. This position is responsible for managing daily workload, technician performance, ticket flow, field quality, safety, training, and customer service within the assigned service area.Key Responsibilities• Supervises, trains, and develops underground utility locate technicians.• Manages daily ticket routing, workload, and technician productivity.• Supports trouble locates, projects, designer tickets, and escalated locating requests.• Conducts locate quality, field safety, vehicle, and maintenance audits.• Addresses performance issues and administers discipline in accordance with company policy.• Responds to customer concerns and communicates operational expectations to the locate team.• Provides field and after-hours support as needed.• Performs other related duties as assignedSkills and Experience• Knowledge of underground utility locating and locatable facilities, including gas, electric, communication, fiber, water, and sewer.• Strong knowledge of utility records, maps, prints, and locate ticket systems.• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.• Proficient in Excel and utility locate management systems.Requirements• 5+ years’ experience in all facets of facility locating• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and supervise field-based locate technicians• Must be willing and able to travel between assigned service areas and provide field support as needed.• Excellent customer service skills• Integrity, reliability, and strong professional judgment
