Job summary

ARCO Design/Build in Houston, TX is offering a Superintendent Intern/Co-op role to gain hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of construction projects. You will work beside seasoned field leaders to learn site mobilization, safety practices, scheduling, and quality control in a real-world setting.

You’ll participate in day-to-day activities, attend progress meetings, and develop fundamentals in plan review, documentation, and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program (other related engineering majors will be considered)
• Driver's License
• Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethics
• Previous Co-op or intern experience in construction preferred, but not required
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Field Operations: Gain exposure to daily site activities from mobilization through project completion.
• Safety Leadership: Participate in daily safety meetings, job site inspections, and promote a strong safety culture.
• Scheduling & Coordination: Assist with coordinating subcontractor activities and monitoring progress to keep projects on schedule.
• Quality Control: Observe and support quality inspections to ensure work aligns with plans and ARCO standards.
• Site Logistics: Support site logistics planning to ensure efficient operations.
• Trade Coordination: Work with superintendents and subcontractors to understand sequencing and resolve field issues.
• Progress Documentation: Help document daily site activities and prepare daily reports.
• Project Meetings: Attend subcontractor coordination meetings and owner walkthroughs.
• Plan & Drawing Review: Learn construction drawings and shop drawings as applied in the field.
• Job Site Walks: Conduct site walks to monitor progress and safety.
• Training & Learning: Participate in offsite trainings and biweekly learning sessions.
• Team Collaboration: Partner with Project Managers and field teams to align office and field operations.
