Job summary

WR Engineering is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service automated machinery and industrial equipment at customer sites on a field-based basis. The role involves diagnosing electrical, mechanical and controls faults and providing hands-on support at various sites.

The ideal candidate has strong fault-finding skills, PLC troubleshooting experience, and comfort with travel. Experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens systems is advantageous, and the role offers training and a benefits package.

Location: Ohio (field based)

Travel: Regional / Nationwide Travel

We’re working with a growing industrial engineering business looking to add a Field Service Engineer to support automated machinery and industrial equipment at customer sites.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Field Service Engineer or a strong Industrial Maintenance, Controls or Automation Technician looking to move into a field-based position.

The Role

• Service, troubleshoot and repair automated industrial machinery
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical and controls faults
• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance
• Install and commission new machinery and equipment
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment
• Work with motors, VFDs, sensors, conveyors, pneumatics and control systems
• Complete equipment upgrades and modifications
• Provide technical support directly to customers
• Travel to customer sites as required

Ideal Experience

• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills

• PLC troubleshooting experience
• Allen-Bradley / Rockwell or Siemens experience advantageous
• Experience with VFDs, motors, sensors and industrial controls
• Comfortable working independently
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills
• Willingness to travel

Previous Field Service experience is not essential.

Candidates currently working as Maintenance Technicians, Controls Technicians, Automation Technicians or Electro-Mechanical Technicians who are interested in moving into Field Service are encouraged to apply.
