Job summary

Buehler, a division of Illinois Tool Works, is seeking a Field Service Technician to provide remote and on-site service in the Northeastern US, including CT. You will diagnose, repair, and calibrate servo-hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems, travel up to 70%, and maintain high customer satisfaction.

You will coordinate with customers, generate quotes, and ensure proper documentation and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or High School Diploma/GED with 5–7 years of field-based experience in electronic instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated adherence to workplace safety standards and best practices.
• Strong diagnostic skills and ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Proficient in using hand tools, machine tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills with a professional demeanor.
• Flexible and adaptable with strong organizational skills; willing to work outside normal business hours when needed.
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative, work independently, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Microsoft Navision and Dynamics CRM is a plus.
• Valid driver's license with a clean record.
• Ability to travel within the United States up to 70% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote technical support via telephone and ticketing system.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshooting and full diagnostics of mechanical & electrical system failures.
• Provide formal service quotes to customers.
• Conduct full system testing and calibrations after repairs.
• Manage individual service cases regularly to meet departmental metrics and KPIs.
• Manage travel schedule and expenses in line with ITW guidelines.
• Support service growth with the region.
