Job summary

Buehler, a division of Illinois Tool Works, seeks a Field Service Technician to support after-sales service across the Northeastern United States. The role requires remote operation with travel up to 70% to service servo-hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems.

You will be the technical expert, provide remote support, perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and generate quotes while upholding safety and customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with related field experience.
• Strong diagnostic skills and ability to read mechanical drawings/electrical schematics.
• Proficient in MS Office; Navision and CRM a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote technical support via phone and ticketing system.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance.

The Field Service Technician holds full responsibility for the success of after-sales and warranty service across the Northeastern territory, which includes Main, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. Operating remotely, the individual will serve as the primary point of contact and technical expert for our comprehensive portfolio of servo-hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems. This role is critical in ensuring we achieve high levels of customer satisfaction by reinforcing our commitment to service excellence throughout the region.

• Provide remote technical support via telephone and ticketing system




• Perform routine preventative maintenance




• Troubleshooting and full diagnostics of mechanical & electrical system failures




• Provide formal service quotes to customers




• Conduct full system testing and calibrations after repairs




• Manage individual service cases regularly to meet departmental metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs)




• Manage travel schedule and expenses in line with ITW guidelines




• Support service growth with the region

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or High School Diploma/GED with 5–7 years of field-based experience in electronic instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.




• Demonstrated adherence to workplace safety standards and best practices.




• Strong diagnostic skills and ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.




• Proficient in using hand tools, machine tools, and precision measuring instruments.




• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills with a professional demeanor.




• Flexible and adaptable with strong organizational skills; willing to work outside normal business hours when needed.




• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative, work independently, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.




• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Microsoft Navision and Dynamics CRM is a plus.




• Valid driver's license with a clean record.




• Ability to travel within the United States up to 70% of the time.

Work Environment

• Position requires routine walking, bending, kneeling, and squatting, sitting, standing, reaching, and twisting.




• Must perform work from floor level to above shoulder height.




• Must be able to lift/lower/carry up to 50 pounds.




• Must climb ladders and/or scaffolds and work above floor height.




• Must crouch, stoop or squat to work inside or under equipment, or move through low headroom spaces.




• Position requires routine pushing, pulling, grasping and manual dexterity in the use of hands, arms and shoulders.

Compensation Information:

The pay for this position is $30-$39 per hour. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
