Job summary

Axon LLC in Raleigh seeks a Field Service Technician to provide on-site technical support for packaging machinery, guiding customers through setup, maintenance, and optimization across the machine lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in mechanical repair, knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. Travel up to 85% domestically and internationally is required.

Qualifications

Associate Degree or 8 years of related work experience.
3+ years in custom machine manufacturing or mechanical repair/maintenance.
Excellent knowledge of mechanical/electrical technical applications, including Allen-Bradley PLCs, servo-driven motors and controls, and pneumatic-driven machinery.
Ability to read and understand complex engineering designs, including wiring schematics.
Packaging industry experience preferred.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Problem-solver with strong independent judgment skills.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 85%.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support to customers throughout the life of a machine.
Offer advice and physical assistance to identify problems and improve operation efficiency and economy.
On-site training of customers’ operators and technicians on setup, operation, change-over and maintenance.
Attend PMMI-required service training certifications and keep credentials current.
Assemble components for the Aftermarket parts group and assist with machine rebuilds/upgrades.
Prepare detailed trip reports and field time/expense documentation with recommended next steps.
Collaborate with engineering to update manuals and troubleshoot guides.
Support Factory Acceptance Tests and customer outreach for service needs.
