Job summary

Vesuvius USA is seeking a Service Technician to provide on-site administrative and technical support for maintaining Vesuvius products and applications. The role diagnoses problems, installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs equipment across the region.

Extensive travel is required to cover various accounts; travel and business expenses are covered. The position reports to the District Manager and ensures compliance with quality management and product documentation during assembly and use.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• 2 years assembly experience or industrial maintenance experience.
• Steel industry experience is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Good mechanical aptitude to evaluate mechanical problems, outline requirements, plan projects, and solve problems.
• Basic working knowledge of hydraulics, electricity, and electronics
• Basic mechanical skills: motor replacement, mechanical part replacement, testing of repaired equipment for the service of associated refractory application equipment.
• Requires good reading, writing, and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to acquire an understanding of both the customer’s process and products supplied.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site administrative and technical support to customers in maintaining Vesuvius products and applications.
• Diagnose technical problems or errors and determine proper solutions.
• Manage on-site activities such as installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair tasks.
• Assist with project planning to meet requirements for product function, performance, safety, reliability, cost, and delivery.
• Travel to different accounts in the region; travel and business expenses will be covered.
• Coordinate with account managers and customers.
• Liaise with Engineering and management.
• Create reports for trial updates.
• Written and verbal communication to obtain solutions.
• Implement solution and follow up on solution outcomes.
• Comply with quality management system including adherence to procedures and development of Product Documentation for safe and effective Assembly and Use.
