Job summary

Vertiv seeks a Field Technician in Ohio to support start-up, commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of medium voltage switchgear and related devices. The role emphasizes safety, customer rapport, and clear communication with CRC, supervisor, and management.

Travel up to 80% and on-site work at customer locations require MV experience, PLC/HMI familiarity, and strong problem-solving skills to deliver first-time fixes and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in medium voltage switchgear or field services.
• Training in electrical theory and technologies; military experience may apply.
• Familiar with electrical test equipment and fundamentals.
• Reading schematics and blueprints for power control/automation.
• Power distribution, AC/DC, voltage theory; troubleshooting skills.
• Background in electrical power, MV experience with switchgear testing.
• Experience programming PLCs and HMIs.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• MS Outlook, Word, and Excel skills.
• Vision requirements: close/distant/color/depth.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Customer-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assist in start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service and troubleshooting of Vertiv 15KVAC electrical switchgear.
• Establish, promote and maintain rapport with customers, co-workers, sales reps and others.
• Evaluate operating conditions of equipment.
• Interact with all levels of internal and external customers.
• Manage one's own schedule with self-motivation.
• Perform general and preventive maintenance on switchgear.
• Respond to emergency calls at customer’s request.
• Strive for first-time fixes and timely communication.
• Provide accurate and timely reporting of timecards and expenses.
• Drive Continuous Improvement.
