Job summary

WOW! is hiring a Utility Locator in Livonia, MI to locate buried cables using a metallic locating device and support broadband installations from the consumer drop to exterior tap location.

The role requires reading maps and system prints, performing measurements with tapes, using underground locator and TDRA testing gear, and maintaining safety and professional standards on job sites, including evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • Able to present technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to accurately measure distances using tapes and other measure devices.
  • Able to use assigned testing equipment including but not limited to underground locator and TDRA.
  • Able to operate office equipment, fax, copier, etc.
  • Able to handle escalations and time-critical issues.
  • Able to read street maps and system prints.
  • Able to work flexible hours as required, including evenings, weekends and on-call shifts.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes and completes locating work in a timely fashion according to scheduling requirements.
  • Reads maps and system prints to determine where located jobs will be completed.
  • Communicates work inquiries and results by email with supervisor, contractor or relevant parties.
  • Assures system security by terminating unused ports and tag drops and locking pedestals.
  • Takes voltage measurements and uses testing equipment.
  • Maintains professional appearance and behavior at all times.
  • Maintains attendance and vehicle in proper working order per policy.
  • Trains employees as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by WOW!.

WOW is Hiring a Utility Locator!Summary:Primary responsibility is using metallic cable coding locating device to identify existing plan. As trained, installs and repairs broadband communication system in compliance with company technical standards from consumer device to exterior tap location.Duties and Responsibilities:Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:Prioritizes and completes locating work in timely fashion, consistent with WOW’s or contractor’s scheduling requirementsReads maps and system prints to determine where located jobs will be completedCommunicates work inquiries and work results in timely fashion (usually by e-mail) with supervisor, contractor or other relevant partiesAssures system security by terminating unused ports and tag drops and locking pedestalsTakes voltage measurementsUnderstands/applies FCC and NESC technical standardsIdentifies and reports all incidents of noncompliance (FCC, NESC, OSHA, and WOW standards)Completes all tasks to WOW! quality standardsMaintains professional appearance and behavior at all timesMaintains excellent attendanceMaintains motor vehicle in proper working order per company policy, including equipment & toll inventory, vehicle security and vehicle maintenanceTrains employeesAttends to other duties as assignedQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
