Job summary

Amada America, Inc. in Raleigh, NC seeks a Field Service Technician to support customers with installation, service and training across Amada laser, punch press and automation equipment.

You will troubleshoot electrical and control systems, read layouts and blueprints, use hand tools and test equipment, and train customers on operating software. Regular travel within the territory and occasional overnight stays are required.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in Electronics or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
• Willingness to travel within assigned territory and occasional overnight stays.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Support customers with installation, service, and training on Amada equipment.
• Provide operation, software, and programming training as needed.
• Troubleshoot electrical, control, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems at customer sites.
• Prepare service reports and communicate status to the Regional Service Manager.
• Travel within Raleigh, NC and surrounding area as required.

Job description

To support customers with (but not limited to) Amada Lasers. This includes installation, service, operational training, networking, programming training, software training, application training, and bending automation training. The duties are not exclusive of performing the same functions for Punch Press, Shears and other general fabricating machines, including automated material loading/unloading machines. This Service area encompasses the Raleigh, NC and surrounding NC area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Proficient in troubleshooting electrical, control systems as well as networks but have some knowledge with mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems too.
• Able to precisely follow layout drawings and blueprints used in the installation of equipment.
• Complete status (service) reports daily and expense reports on a weekly basis.
• The ability to communicate in the English language.
• Excellent customer relations and follow through.
• Managing the total equipment installation process at Customer site entailing use of hand tools, climbing, bending, stooping.
• Operation, applications, software, and part programming capabilities, and customer training of such.
• Use of Amada applications software used in line control and part programming.
• Regular travel within assigned territories.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• The ability to communicate in the Spanish language is a plus.

SKILLS

• Ability to analyze and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, optical and electrical systems.
• Ability to use hand tools, Volt/Ohm meter and Oscilloscope.
• Working knowledge of computers and Windows OS.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Being accountable and responsible to service and support a customer through all aspects of the customer's ownership of the machine.

• Routine travel within assigned territories with occasional overnight stays.

KNOWLEDGE

• A 4-year degree in Electronics or a minimum of a 2-year degree with related work experience preferred.
