Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking a Field Service Technician to support the build, startup, and commissioning of primary packaging machinery from our Greater Milwaukee base. You will travel up to 100% of the time across the US, wiring and tuning machines, and training customer teams on operation and maintenance.

You bring at least 3 years in hands-on repair or field service, strong electrical skills, and comfort with Windows and office apps.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of hands-on machinery repair or field service experience.
• Strong electrical background: reading schematics and PLC ladder logic.
• Solid mechanical skills.
• Experience on cartoners, pouchers or other primary packaging equipment.
• Technical or associate degree, or equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Comfortable with Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Based in Greater Milwaukee and willing to travel US full-time.

Responsibilities

• Support the build of complex packaging machinery with electrical assembly and engineering teams.
• Install, start up, and commission packaging equipment at customer sites across the US.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and controls issues independently.

Field Service Technician (Primary Packaging Machinery)

Greater Milwaukee, WI | Up to 100% US travel

up to $45/hr + overtime at time and a half over 40 hrs + per diem ($64.50 travel days / $86 full on-site days) + mileage reimbursement

Most field service techs get handed a manual and a plane ticket. In this role, you'll learn the machines by helping build them before you ever install one at a customer site.

I'm working with an established manufacturer of high-speed primary packaging machinery used across food and consumer goods packaging. They have an experienced field service team, with long-serving technicians who'll show you the ropes.

They're growing the team on the back of major new equipment orders. Your first three months are structured training, split between the company's headquarters and shadowing experienced techs in the field. Ideally you'll work alongside the electrical assemblers and engineers building the machines you'll go on to support. You'll learn one machine platform in depth first, then cross-train onto others, so your skills and your value keep growing.

What You'll Do:

• Supporting the build of complex packaging machinery alongside the electrical assembly and engineering teams
• Installing, starting up and commissioning primary packaging equipment at customer sites across the US
• Troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical and controls issues independently
• Reading schematics and modifying PLC ladder logic to tune machine performance for each customer
• Directing customer personnel during installations and service work
• Training customer operators and maintenance teams on running and servicing the equipment
• Making sure every machine meets its inspection, testing and quality specifications
• Supporting customers with aftermarket parts, phone support and occasional on-call cover

What We're Looking For:

• At least 3 years of hands-on machinery repair or field service experience
• A strong electrical background: reading schematics, understanding PLC ladder logic and making program changes
• Solid mechanical skills
• Experience on cartoners, pouchers or other primary packaging equipment (highly )
• A curious, self-driven troubleshooter who wants to know why a machine is doing what it's doing, not just assemble parts
• Excellent communication and people skills, since you'll be the company's face on customer sites
• A technical or associate degree, or an equivalent mix of education and experience
• Comfortable with Windows and Microsoft Office
• Based in Greater Milwaukee and comfortable with full-time US travel
