Job summary

Miller Resource Group seeks a skilled Field Service Technician to deliver hands-on service and training for automated packaging equipment. This remote-based role travels to customer sites within roughly one hour of a major airport and reports to the Field Service Manager.

Job description

We are seeking a talented Field Service Technician to provide professional service and training support for automated packaging equipment and systems. This position provides an opportunity to work directly with customers, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, support equipment installations and start-ups, and help ensure equipment performs to customer requirements.

The position can be based remotely within approximately one hour of a major airport and reports to the Field Service Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and assist customer personnel in the installation, start-up, and training of machines and systems.
  • Provide technical service support to customers when equipment is not performing properly.
  • Provide Engineering with accurate updates on changes made to machines in the field.
  • Participate in final equipment checkout to help ensure machines are ready for shipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems in the field.
  • Work with PLC and HMI programs and make appropriate edits or changes when needed.
  • Support setup and operation of case packing, shrink wrapping, robotic, and related automation equipment.
  • Represent the organization professionally while working directly with customers.
Qualifications & Technical Skills
  • Strong mechanical and electrical assembly and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work online with Rockwell PLCs and HMIs and navigate and make edits or changes to PLC and HMI programs.
  • Fanuc robot experience and certification are highly desirable.
  • Approximately 2–4 years of relevant field service experience is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to educate and train customers in equipment setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production and customer-facing environment.
