Job description

Field Service Technician (Great Lakes) | Food Processing Equipment OEM

Location: IL, WI, or IN (Must reside near a major airport)

Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent

Compensation: Highly competitive hourly rate based on experience + Overtime

Are you a technical problem solver looking to join a growing US based manufacturer? We are an established OEM of high quality food processing and packaging machinery expanding our Great Lakes operations.

We are actively seeking a Field Service Technician to join our team. Whether you are a greener technician with a small amount of hands on experience or a seasoned senior tech, this role offers exceptional training, outstanding benefits, and long term career stability. Compensation is flexible and will be directly tailored to reflect your specific experience level.

Features and Benefits

We believe in taking exceptional care of our people. This role is structured to reward your hard work with superior compensation, continuous learning, and significant financial perks.

  • Lucrative Earning Potential: Highly competitive base hourly rate reflecting your experience level, with time and a half overtime paid after 44 hours.
  • Guaranteed Growth Opportunities: Annual performance evaluations every April with typical raises ranging from 3% to 5%, and up to 10% for top performers.
  • Top Tier Travel Perks: A generous $850 monthly car allowance for regional driving.
  • Flexible Per Diem Program: $10 for breakfast, $10 for lunch, and $25 for dinner. You keep the difference if you spend less, and we reimburse overages for expensive airport meals. Company credit cards are also available.
  • Accelerated Training: Comprehensive, hands on OEM training designed to get you fully up to speed in just 3 to 4 months.
  • Work Life Balance: Heavy travel (up to 80%) is required, but we value your time at home. Expect more weekend travel during your first year training phase. After year one, weekend work drops significantly to just 2 to 4 weekends per year.
  • Comprehensive Health and Wealth: Amazing premium tier health insurance and a highly competitive 401k match program.
  • Education and Upskilling: Robust tuition reimbursement for taking classes, earning trade skill certifications, or learning programs like AutoCAD.
The Role

You will serve as the face of the company in the IL, WI, and IN territory, acting as a critical resource for our clients. You will manage extensive regional driving and some flying, bringing technical expertise directly to customer sites.

Troubleshooting

Diagnose and resolve complex issues on manufacturing equipment with a heavy focus on electrical systems.

PLC Diagnostics

Utilize PLCs to effectively troubleshoot and isolate equipment faults.

Customer Experience

Act as a calm, solutions oriented communicator capable of diffusing stressful situations and solving customer problems on the spot.

Candidate Requirements
  • Experience Level: Open to a wide range of experience. Whether you are a greener candidate with foundational knowledge or a highly experienced Senior Field Service Technician, we want to speak with you.
  • Industry Background: Manufacturing equipment experience is required. Food processing or packaging experience is a plus, but experience with any heavy manufacturing equipment is welcome.
  • Technical Strengths: Must be exceptionally strong on the electrical side, with the ability to troubleshoot using PLCs.
  • Valued Bonus Skills: Ability to read schematics and AutoCAD. Candidates with Tool and Die experience or existing trade skill certifications will stand out.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communicator, adaptable, level headed, and dedicated to customer satisfaction.
