Job description

Field Service Technician I (Open)

Location: Sparks, NV – Bulk cryo logistics – ANC

Our Field Service Technician will install and service new and existing Bulk CO2 tanks while upholding high safety standards in accordance with all federal, state, county and local codes and Airgas policies while operating a CDL B truck.

Responsibilities

• Steer the safe and accurate loading, unloading and transporting of CO2 products for servicing, managing equipment up to 500 lbs with material handling tools, battery and electric tools, navigating 14 ft ladders, and working overhead regularly. Connect with customers to secure required signatures as needed.
• Comfortable with regional travel 25%–50% of the time within the region, with planned layovers identified 1–2 weeks prior. Airgas covers hotel accommodations, flights or car rentals; all ANC trucks are day cabs.
• Typical shift is Monday–Friday, with openness to a shared on‑call rotation on some weekends.
• Contribute to CO2 bulk installations at Airgas facilities and customer sites.
• Assess, troubleshoot, and perform general repairs and maintenance on new and existing Bulk CO2 systems.
• Ensure clear communication and safety awareness by placing decals and warning signs for proper identification of hazards, warnings, ownership, normal operational settings, emergency contacts, etc.
• Organize and ensure a reliable inventory of recommended parts necessary to support typical installations operated by the hub.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL or B CDL with HAZMAT (or able to obtain hazmat within 60 days of hire date) Tanker and Airbrake endorsement.
• Must have 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or provide proof of completion from trucking school within the last 12 months.
• Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card & endorsements.
• No more than two traffic convictions or two at‑fault accidents in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one traffic conviction and one at‑fault accident.
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last 7 years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints and design specifications, manufacturer drawings, architectural drawings related to bulk delivery sites for customer installations.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and how they are used.
• Knowledge of specialty gases is a plus.
• Must be able to lift 60 lbs.
