Field Service Technician I

Location: Riverdale, IL (ASP) – Ammonia production & filling

Compensation

• Pay: 42.46/hr
• Safety Bonus Pay: up to $1500 annually
• Per Diem: up to $10,000 annually (200 nights/yr x $55)
• Hotel and travel accommodations covered by Airgas
• Referral Bonus Pay: $1000
• Paid weekly via direct deposit
• Schedule: 95% travel, must be flexible
• Route coverage area: up to a 350-mile radius
• Equipment: CDL A Bulk Tanker

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the Airgas field service team and plant operations.
• Work with customers and corporate staff to nurture solutions and build alignment regarding systems and processes.
• Carefully manage recovery of ammonia liquid and vapor from multiple sources, ensuring environmental and team safety.
• Steward installation and care of ammonia tanks, piping, and pumps to ensure long‑term reliability and excellence.
• Provide support and share technical insights with the Airgas Specialty Products sales team.
• Maintain proper parts inventory in service vans and the warehouse.
• Thoughtfully record activities via work orders and service agreements to ensure transparency and quality of service.
• Maintain a professional and welcoming environment through interactions and daily presence.
• Ensure vehicle safety and reliability by keeping trucks, trailers, and vans in excellent condition.
• Maintain site‑specific training records with attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

• At least 25 years old.
• Class A CDL with at least 2 years of CMV experience within last 4 years; tanker/hazmat endorsements required before hire date.
• Graduation from an accredited truck driving school with diploma counts as 1 year of required experience.
• No preventable accidents in last 3 years.
• No more than 2 minor tickets in previous 3 years.
• No serious violation ticket in previous 3 years.
• No suspensions of CDL in previous 3 years, except for failure to pay child support.
• No DUI in last 7 years.
• Must be able to lift 60 lbs. or more.
• High school diploma, technical diploma or equivalent preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Tanker experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ammonia experience.
