Job Description

Job Summary

Generator Service Technicians are responsible for performing shop and/or field repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting of diesel and gas generators, including automatic transfer switches, batteries, and load banks. This technician will support Martin, Saint Lucie, Indian River, and Brevard Counties.

Essential Job Functions

1. Perform mechanical, electrical troubleshooting and repair of generators.
2. Provide emergency and scheduled repairs during and outside normal working hours, including weekends and holidays.
3. Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and work orders to perform maintenance and repairs.
4. Perform basic mathematical calculations.
5. Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
6. Detect and report faulty operations, defective materials, and other issues to the service manager promptly.
7. Maintain safety regulations, and keep work areas, vehicles, and job sites clean and organized.
8. Drive company vehicle to and from job sites; overnight travel may be required.

Additional Job Functions

• May require welding, using winch, pulley, hoist, pallet jack, and towing trailers or generators.

Required Experience and Skills

• Knowledge of power generation systems and components, including mechanical and electrical aspects.
• Proficiency with generator and transfer switch controls.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
• Ability to interpret schematics and manuals.
• Basic math skills.
• Adherence to safety procedures, including PPE and NFPA 70E standards.
• Ability to work in outdoor environments and lift up to 100 lbs.
