Job summary

W3Global is seeking a Field Service Technician based out of Mauldin, SC. You will install and commission equipment at customer laboratories across North America, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and software faults, and perform preventive maintenance. Training customers on operation and care is also required.

Expect to travel, including overnight stays, and to maintain strong safety and quality standards at every site.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience servicing laboratory or industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read schematics, hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, and engineering drawings.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight stays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate/associate degree preferred.

Field Service Technician

Location: Based out of Mauldin, SC

Field-based Type: Full-time Pay: $70,000-$85,000 depending on experience

Our client manufactures equipment and consumables for metallography, petrography, and spectroscopy sample preparation, including precision cutting, grinding and polishing machines, mounting presses, micro‑indentation hardness testers, image analysis systems, and microscopes.

The company is family‑owned and serves laboratories across more than 50 countries. Its U.S. team supports customers throughout North America across industries including aerospace, automotive, defense, semiconductor, energy, and independent testing.

The Role

You will represent our client at customer sites, installing new equipment, keeping installed machines running, and training customers on equipment operation and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and commission equipment at customer laboratories across North America.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and software faults.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration.
  • Install and configure Windows-based instrument software on customer networks.
  • Train customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Write clear service reports and recommend repairs, upgrades, and spare parts.
  • Report recurring issues to the engineering team.
  • Uphold safety and quality standards at every customer site, including customer‑specific EHS requirements.
Requirements
  • Hands‑on experience servicing laboratory or industrial equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; comfortable working with 208V/480V three‑phase systems and lockout/tagout.
  • Ability to read schematics, hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electronic, and software systems.
  • Good computer skills, including installing and configuring software on customer equipment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train customers and prepare detailed service reports.
  • Customer‑focused, responsive, reliable, and professional.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight stays.
  • Valid U.S. passport or ability to obtain one, as factory training in Bursa, Turkey is required during the first year.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and handle crating, pallet jacks, and extended periods of standing/walking.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate, associate degree, or military technical training preferred.
Nice to Have
  • Field service experience with laboratory instruments or materials testing equipment.
  • Metallography or sample preparation knowledge.
  • Hardness testing and calibration experience, including ASTM E18 and E384.
  • PLC and HMI troubleshooting experience.
  • OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, or forklift certification.
