Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services is seeking an experienced reciprocating compression technician to independently perform complex repairs in the field across multiple product lines and to expand technical expertise.

Travel to customer sites is approximately 80% of the time. You will overhaul, repair, and troubleshoot reciprocating engines and compressors, read OEM manuals, and develop repair scopes with clear documentation and safety as a priority.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of hands-on reciprocating compression field experience.
• Proven track record of major overhauls and complex repairs.
• Ability to work independently across at least two product lines.
• Strong knowledge of engine and compressor theory and precision measurement.
• Experience using OEM docs to determine procedures, tolerances, and parts.
• Ability to perform failure analysis and produce technical service reports.
• Willingness to travel ~80% and work extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform major and minor overhauls, repairs, inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting on reciprocating engines at customer sites.
• Execute procedures with minimal supervision on at least two product lines using OEM manuals and specs.
• Conduct precision measurements, inspections, and failure analyses to ensure compliance with specs.
• Troubleshoot engine performance, balancing, combustion, alignment, and mechanical issues; propose fixes.
• Develop SOWs, material lists, and repair schedules for field projects.
• Interpret OEM manuals, drawings, schematics, and BOMs to identify parts and repair steps.
• Collaborate with customers and teams to complete projects safely and document findings.
