Job summary

Thompson Machinery is seeking a Field Service Technician – Construction Equipment in Thompson's Station, TN to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on Caterpillar diesel-powered machinery. Role involves travel within the region, independent work, and customer interaction from company trucks or service shops.

The ideal candidate has multiple years of diagnostic and troubleshooting experience, valid state driver’s license, and the ability to work flexible hours, including

Qualifications

• Field Service Technician training and/or equipment service and maintenance training through accredited technical schools, equipment dealerships or manufacturer training preferred.
• High school diploma required.
• Five (5) or more years’ experience with equipment diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting on construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals, company policies and procedures.
• Work with electric/electronic and hydraulic system schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment service manuals, and be proficient in the use of test equipment.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and high-quality repair service on construction equipment, engines, and power trains to respond to customer needs in a positive, safe, and timely manner, and ensuring maximum value.
• Field Service Technicians have safety, customer satisfaction, and business responsibilities. They identify, troubleshoot, diagnose, and provide quality repairs of Caterpillar equipment and related engine mechanical systems.
