Job summary

Fairbanks Morse Defense is seeking a Field Service Supervisor in Houston to lead a skilled team of technicians in delivering mission-critical diesel engine field services. You will plan, schedule, and oversee on-site work, ensuring safety, quality, and customer satisfaction across projects of varying size.

The role requires 6+ years in related industry or military experience with medium-speed diesel engines, plus supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Coursework in Fundamentals of Supervision and Project Management.
• 6+ years of industry or military experience with medium-speed diesel engines.
• 4+ years as an FM Field Service Technician preferred.
• 3+ years supervisory experience in a service environment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of pneumatic systems, PLCs, and electronic engine controls.
• Familiarity with FM engine products.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-starter who can work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Project; ERP experience (Oracle/Salesforce) preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and manage the work performed by technical representatives to optimize labor capacity and customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate with Project Manager on larger-scale projects.
• Coordinate with Quality Manager on PCPs and T&I documentation.
• Review and provide feedback on daily service reports and findings from technicians.
• Schedule and dispatch technicians; balance customer demand with vacations and personal time.
• Review and approve timecards and expense reports for technicians.
• Develop and implement an annual training plan; assess workforce talent.
• Motivate, mentor, and coach staff to deliver superior customer service.
• Recommend staffing levels to meet customer requirements.
• Participate in recruitment and interviews; assist with hiring decisions.
• Conduct midyear and year-end performance reviews; recommend merit increases.
• Develop performance-improvement plans and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Promote safety and address safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain records of standard work and time requirements for future quotes.
• Implement productivity improvements through better tools, training, and processes.
• Assist with quoting service jobs.
