Job summary

Schneider Electric is seeking a Field Service Representative to perform assembly, startup, diagnostic, repair and preventive maintenance on equipment at customer sites. You will collaborate with customers, partners, and internal teams to deliver service solutions in dynamic environments.

The role requires traveling to customer sites, occasional non-standard hours, and a 40-hour guarantee with overtime. Strong mechanical, electrical, and safety skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in field service repair and customer service with UPS systems and power distribution
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics
• Strong safety practices including lock-out/tag-out and training compliance
• English proficiency required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook

Responsibilities

• Pre-site, startup, repair, preventive maintenance, and field modification of equipment
• Problem solve with customers, electricians, sales partners, technical support, and district service teams
• Complete field service reports, expense reports, preventive maintenance, and startup data sheets
• Collaborate with Manager/Regional Service Director to resolve escalated issues
• Engage in ongoing learning and training on products in the field and in classrooms
• Travel regionally for local support or country-wide travel, including overnight trips
• Assist senior technicians and Project Management on larger system startups
• Work with larger teams of FSRs and Project Managers on complex projects
• Act on behalf of the District Service Manager to resolve operational issues as needed

Schneider’s Field Service Representatives play an impactful role within the organization – collaborating with customers, team members and third‑party partners to perform assembly, startup, diagnostic, repair and preventive maintenance on both company and third‑party manufactured equipment in a variety of dynamic environments. This is a site‑based position with occasional non‑standard hours. There is a 40‑hour guarantee (+ overtime) with most work occurring at customer sites. The role focuses on servicing equipment that supports power distribution and critical power infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Pre‑site, startup, repair, preventive maintenance, and field modification of equipment
• Problem solving with customers, electricians, sales partners, technical support, and district service teams
• Completion of field service reports, expense reports, preventive maintenance, and startup data sheets
• Working with your Manager and/or Regional Service Director to resolve complex escalated issues
• Continuous learning and training on various products both in the field and in the classroom

On some days you may also:

• Travel throughout the region for local customer support or even country‑wide travel, including overnight travel by vehicle or air
• Assist senior technicians and support Project Management on larger system start‑ups
• Work alongside larger teams of FSRs and collaborate with Project Managers on higher complexity projects
• Act on behalf of the District Service Manager to resolve operational issues as required

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree, trade/vocational certification, or equivalent military training in electrical‑related disciplines
• Ability to read blueprints/schematics
• Thorough understanding of AC and DC power principles and supply circuit components
• 2+ years of field service repair and customer service with UPS systems, power distribution, and related equipment
• 2+ years of field services or equivalent industry experience
• Good safety practices, including lock‑out/tag‑out, compliance with safety programs, and timely completion of safety trainings
• Knowledge of NFPA‑70E or OSHA standards preferred
• Safe driving and vehicle operations skills
• Proficiency with test and diagnostic equipment
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and operation manuals
• Strong written communication skills for service reports, correspondence, and procedures
• Physical ability to perform strenuous tasks, lift up to 40 pounds, work outside in various environments, and stand for extended periods in confined spaces
• English proficiency required
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel
