Job summary

SMA America in Blythe, CA is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support warranty repairs and commissioning of SMA utility inverters in the field. This field-based role covers the Western region, with relocation considered to reside near Blythe.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and analyze data from inverters, work with high voltage DC and three-phase power, and strive to deliver excellent customer service while managing parts inventory and travel requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent renewables experience.
• At least 3 years in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications.
• Residence within commuting distance to Blythe, CA or willingness to relocate.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assists with commissioning, troubleshoots, repairs, and analyzes SMA America's utility inverters in the field, via email, telephone, and site visits.
• Develops a detailed knowledge of SMA's utility inverter products, accessories, and third-party accessories sold by SMA for use with the inverters.
• Maintains an accurate inventory count of spare parts provided by SMA.
• Works regularly with high voltage DC electricity, three phase power, and the relevant software and firmware of the inverters.
• Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction while striving to lower the costs of field service.
• Assists with, performs, and maintains maintenance activities in accordance with the SMA product maintenance manual on assigned sites with SMA customer contractual obligations.
