Job summary

SMA America is seeking a Field Service Engineer to commission, troubleshoot, and repair SMA utility inverters in the Central region. The role covers field visits, maintenance, and data analysis, with significant travel within the Odessa/Midland area.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in electrical/electronic roles, a technical bachelor’s degree, and willingness to work nonstandard hours to support customer contracts. Field-based work with home-office setup in Odessa, TX.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications.
• Ability to meet travel requirements of the role.
• Nonstandard hours/ schedules may be required to support service contracts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with commissioning, troubleshooting, repairs, and analysis of SMA America's utility inverters in the field.
• Work with high voltage DC, three-phase power, and inverter software/firmware.
• Perform and support maintenance activities per SMA maintenance manual on assigned sites.
• Develop knowledge of SMA utility inverter products and accessories.
