Job summary

SMA America, the U.S. subsidiary of SMA Solar Technology AG, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to commission, troubleshoot, and repair SMA utility inverters in the Odessa/Midland, TX area. The role requires travel across the Central region and nonstandard hours to support service contracts.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in electrical/electronic or network communications, a technical degree or equivalent renewables experience, and NEC knowledge. Strong customer focus is essential.

Qualifications

• Residence in Odessa/ Midland, TX area.
• At least 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent renewables industry experience.
• Ability to work nonstandard hours and schedules to support service contracts.
• Ability to meet travel requirements of the role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with commissioning, troubleshooting, repairs, and analysis of SMA America's utility inverters in the field, via email, phone, and on-site visits.
• Work with high voltage DC, three-phase power, and inverter software/firmware.
• Maintenance activities per SMA product manual on assigned sites, in line with customer contracts.
• Develop knowledge of SMA's utility inverter products and accessories, and third-party accessories used with inverters.
• Maintain accurate inventory of spare parts provided by SMA.
• Maintain high customer satisfaction while aiming to lower field service costs.
• Other duties as assigned.
